Russians in temporary power seem so intoxicated with the possibilities of their position that it would not surprise anyone if they despatched ultimatums to all the world, as well as to the Moon and to Mars. Because Roumania objects to Austrian officers and Bolsheviks carrying on a revolutionary campaign amongst her soldiers an ultimatum has been sent to the Roumanian Government, and the Roumanian Ambassador and his officers at Petrograd have been arrested. Roumania was offered a sacrifice to Germany by Russians who traitorously plotted with their pretended enemies and that .country with its people, food and property were callously handed qver to the brutal, lustful Hun. Whom Sturmcr had the Russian ' reins ' of power he demanded that Roumania should enter the shambles to face certain defeat and death. Since then the marauding Huns have seized their lands and foodstuffs, carried their sons into slavery and their, daughters into a shame that the most scientifically trained and in baseness and brutality could conceive nothing worse. Now Russia, once more, is endeavouring to sacrifice Roumania to Bolshevikism, to an embodiment of all that is most detestable in human and animal nature and we are not sure this is not a libel on the lower animals for theirs is not a perverted nature. There, can be little doubt about the leaders of the B'olshcviks being German agents', about being in the pay of, and working for, Germany. Every action they have hitherto taken has notably been to ho|p on the German cause. The countries of Poland, Courland and Lithuania have been virtually handed over to Germany without a blow having to be struck for final victory, and the sinister, subtle acts of the anarchist are being carried into Roumania. With Austria and Germany on one side Bulgaria on the other and Russia her erstwhile friend pinning an ultimatum to her back door, what chance of salvation can there be for Roumania, until the Allies achieve final victory. It is the most pitiable, the most depressing feature of the 'whole war, and it stands out a damning demonstration of the cold-bloodedness of Germany’s methods. Forced into the war, while she urged to bo allowed to remain neutral, she was delivered into the hand of the arch-destroyer and now a Russian ultimatum indicates that the destruction is to bo completed if the Russo-Prussian designs and intentions do not encounter difficulties at present unforeseen. Contrary to the most strained international law, usuage and understanding Roumania’s Ambassador' is arrested. This seems another pretext for something diabolical Germany desires to perpetrate. The campaign in Russia makes tho absolute possession of Roumania necessary to Germany, and should she be successful on the,West front, Roumania would bo of Immense value. This unity of action with the Bolshevik leaders, Lenin and Trotsky, denotes that these men are m the pay of Germany and are doing Germany’s dirtiest work. There are signs, however, that all the people of Russia are not deceived and it is reported that an attempt to assassinate Lenin has recently been made International law Ss being scrapped by Bolsheviks in quite the orthodox and approved Gorman manner, which renders them international outlaws with Germany, and something to be destroyed. Japan has commenced to move against the murderous processes of Bolshevik anarchy and Iscariotism; she does not desire to coerce Russia;
but it is necessary that she. should protect the lives and property of Japanese citizens. We believe this to bo the small cloud of the size of a man’s hand, that will grow and bring down such a storm that it will dissipate the complex malady from which Russia is suffering. Germany has so far controlled the Bolsheviks as to play everything into her own hands in a plausible fashion, but difficulties will arise "when the Japanese step in to protect the rights and lives of hundreds of thousands of her citizens in, eastern Asiatic Russia. Bolshevik forces will madly, uncontrollably oppose the Japanese so as to involve the employment of larger and increasingly larger forces. Hostilities will spread from Yladivostock to along the whole Manchurian and Mongolian frontier. Russia is commencing to involve herself in a war that no power on earth can prevent her losing, and this will result from the German military command with their friends Lenin and Trotsky being unable to Control the action of their victims. Out of Germany’s revolting acts there may grow a poetic justice which she is unable to suppress, or resist. In Japan’s keeping is the safety of her own country and people, also that of China and the millions of people in Chinese territory. That Japan will resent eastern Russia falling into Germany’s hands no person with any commonsensc will have any doubts about. May that resentment take form rapidly so as to help in saving Roumania from the awful doom foreshadowed in the ultimatum she has received from Russia, and through which is observable that terrorism brigandage, murder, confiscation and slavery for which the Huns and the Bolshevik traitors will ever be notorious.
