CONCERNING PLUMBERS' AP PRENTICES.

TIMARU, January 12

At the Magistrate's Court to-day, a journeyman was charged with a breach of the Plumbers' Registration Act in doing sanitary plumbing work, he being unregistered. The defence urged that a man has to work to qualify for registration and Act was complied with if the employer '' does'' the work by being responsible for it. The employer was also charged. The Magistrate adopted the view of the defence that an apprentice could only gain knowledge by thorough practical experience. Counsel for the Health Department asked his Worship to state a case for -appeal.
