ON THE SEA.
SUNK IN THREE MINUTES.
PARIS, January 13
It is reported that a submarine torpedoed a British steamer of 4190 tons in the Mediterranean. The steamer sank in three minutes. The submarine rose, but did not attempt to help the crew, who were clinging to upturned boats. A French vessel rescued the captain, two officers, and fourteen of the crew.
CO-ORDINATION OF SHIPPING.
UNBELIEVABLE BUILDING ACTIVITY.

WASHINGTON, January 14.
Mr. E. N. Hurley, president of the United States Shipping Board, has announced that definite steps have been taken"by America and the Allies to coordinate shipping. A United States Controller has been appointed to co-operate with London, Paris, and Rome Controllers, and to epeed up loading, and embarkations. It is also announced that shipyard activity is almost beyond Belief. Forty-one vessels, aggregating 327,152 tons will be Teady in January or February.

A vessel arriving at an Atlantic port reports having picked up a wireless from the steamer Texan, as follows: "We are struck' amidships; have 63 men, lowering boats. Goodbye; no more."
