Survivors of tlie three destroyers which were lost off the Dutch coast on the night of December 22nd. give a thrilling narrative of the courage and enterprise by all ranks. They say the vessels had fulfilled important duties on a dark, foggy night. When the first destroyer struck she asked for assistance, and the others came up. Everything that could float was fung overboard, The destroyers throughout ignored the mine and submarine risks and succeeded in saving many. The commander of one destroyer was blown overboard by the explosion, but was rescued and resumed duties. A surgeon was for some hours afloat. When rescued he attended the wounded. The engineroom staffs showed exemplary coolness throughout, though in imminent danger. ITALIAN SCHEME ADOPTED. ROME, January 8. 'Admiral Debono, Minister of Marine stated that all the Entente Powers had adopted the Italian system of convoying merchant ships, which secures safety against submarines. . TWO IRISH SHIPS TORPEDOED.. LONDON, January 8. There were pitiful scenes of mourning at Waterford, -where t-wo Irish vessels were sunk by submarines without leaving a trace. Portion of the ■wreckage of a life-boat was washed ashore, but not a member of the two crews is alive to tell the tale.
