BLINDED BY VITROL.

A sentence of 20 years’ penal servitude was passed at Nottingham Assizes on Thomas Frederick Eatford, 37, who in a fit of jealous rage, threw a cup of vitrol over a woman.

The latter, Annie Waldron, a shunter on the Great Central Railway, had lived with Badford, but left him some time ago bccauuse of his brutality. He pursued her with threats and swore to destroy her sight.

At last she took out a summons against, him, whereupon he went to her lodgings, throw the vitrol over her, and burned her so terribly about the eyes, face, and chest that she is not expected to see again. A witness said that after committing the outrage Eadford came downstairs laughing.
