TRAP FOR WOULD-BE BURGLARS.

A woman's successful ruse to capture intending burglars was described at Mortlake Petty Sessions. Two youths of 16 were charged with breaking into a tobacconist's shop but the premises having been burgled before, the proprietor had arranged a trap consisting of a number of boxes loosely piled together. Hearing the structure fall he hurried down-stairs shouting, that he was armed, while at the same moment his wife threw pepper in the intruders' eyes. They surrendered at direction, and were remanded for inquiry.
