RANGITIKEI A. & P. ASSOCIATION.
THE ANNUAL SHOW. The Rangitikei Agricultural and Pastoral Annual Show is to be held in Taihape on Wednesday, 27tb February. The Schedule of events and competitions has already been circulated, and owing to an excellent season, the prospects are that record entries will come to hand. There are classes for horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, home industries, and various competitions such as riding, jumping, and weight-guessing. More interest in horse-breeding has been in evidence in ‘this district during the past twelve months which augurs well for an improved stamp of draught horse becoming more generally than exceptionally in evidence. It is hoped that draught breeders will offer a trophy amongst themselves that will induce such competition as would make horse-breeders anxious to win it. Sheep and cattle entries should constitute a record; there are several really enthusiastic and successful breeders of stud sheep and it is to their interest and to the advantage of this locality being known as a sheep district. The home industries class is always well contested; it is a class that shorn d be encouraged to an extreme, and the committee is doing its utmost to get every lady, whether in the country or in town, to show something, if it is only a poT of particularly successful jam. It is by such competition that the highest success in food production is achieved. Entries close on Saturday, 16th February, with Mr A. M. Ryan, the secretary, Taihape.
