BRITAIN'S FOOD PROBLEM.
LABOUR AND THE FOOD SUPPLY Received 9 a.m. LONDON, Dec 30. The National Convention of representatives of the Trades Union Congress and Labour Party "on the subject of food supply, has opened", and a resolution submitted protesting against the unnecessary suffering in the urban area, especially of women, owing to the absence of equitable distribution of supplies, and demanding an equal distribution amongst the rich. and poor, compulsory rationing of many articles, ana a better organisation of the milk supply.
Mr Smilie, President of the Miners' Federation, warned the Government of a grave crisis in the country unless the Government acted fair;y in the matter of food.
Mr Clyne, secretary to the Food Controller, accepted the resolution, and said no Government 'Could apply any other policy. There was an indication that the situa'flbn in great industrial centres was becoming better. He ridiculed the idea that 'the Government could commandeer and distribute food supply. The existing distributing agencies were essential. The resolution was adopted.

The conference resolutfoned, demanding the School Feeding Act be right to release in this country, alSb boots and clothes supplied to needy children; they also protested against profiteering.
