A committee representing several hundred thousand Austro-German prisoners passed a resolution, at Petrograd, demanding the acceptance by Germany of Russia’s “democratic j peace terms,” otherwise they will declare war on Austro-German Imperialists and join the Russians. In order to enforce democratic terms they urge Austro-German soldiers in the trenches to surrender. CHRISTMAS IN GERMANY. FEARFUL CONDITIONS PREVAIL.. r RIOTS. IN MANY TOWNS. —i—- - TEN POUNDS FOR DINNER. Received -10.50. BERNE, Dec 27. The striking feature of the German Christmas is the acute misery of the people. 111-clad women and children are openly begging for food in the snow-covered streets. Hunger riots occurred in many towns, the most serious at Cologne. Fashionable Berlin restaurants are charging ten pounds sterling for a dinner.
