THE REFERENDUM. SOLDIERS VOTES COMING IN. MELBOURNE, Dec 26. It is understood that the first batch of soldiers ’votes, representing 70,000 are substantially in favour of the Government proposals. Contrary to expectations, the first batch of soldiers’ votes reveal a majority against conscription, “Yes” numbering 17,435, and “No” 23,760, thus increasing the “No” lead to IS?,453.
