PEACE AND HONOUR. NEW YORK, Dec 25. The New York Tribute’s Tokio correspondent interviewed Viscount Terauchi, who said that it was gratifying to stand beside the United States, whose efforts in the war would prove illimitable. The Allied capture of ' Jerusalem was happily timed, and might be accepted as an indication of the speedy restoration of peace with honour. The unity and solidarity of the iAllies would increase in the coming year. w , GERMANY AND PEACE. BERNE, Dec 24. The Frankfurter Zeitung’s Berlin correspondent states that the Government will not make a further peace offer. PAPAL PEACE SEED. HOPES THAT IT WILL FRUCTIFY \ ROME, Dec 25. Pope; receiving the College of Cardinals, who presented Christmas greetings, pronounced an allocution regretting the failure of his last peace initiative, which, was prompted by tears of mothers, widows and orphans and a desire to end the world’s calamity. He added that he had sowed the seed, hoping it would fall on good soil, and fructify. He expressed great joy at the liberation of Jerusalem.
