RANGITIKEI COUNTY COUNCIL

ENGINEER'S REPORT At the last meeting of the Rangitikei Conuty Conucil if he Engineer reported on the Taihape district roada as follows: — TE KAPUA RIDING I have pegged out a water drive to replace the derelict culvert on Mataioponga stream, near Pohonui school. The work is now well in hand. Fair ' progress has been made with gravelling work on Pukemapou Road. I have let hauling of gravel on Namunui Road to Mr Ah Ghee Kin, and he has made a good start with the work. The site for the crusher is being prepared, and the roller is in the meantime roling down the new gravel on the Taihape-Mataroa Road. Directly after the new year I hope to put the crusher into commission, using the roller to drive it wtyrff. The work of building bridges on Baird’s Road has been delayed pending arrival of timber. The contractor for forming the Otaihape Valley Road has abandoned the work, and removed his camp, tools, etc. I therefore recommend his interest in the contract bo determined forthwith, and the work can* be completed when labour is available.. Gravel repairs on Murray's track, Mataroa, have been completed. A WAR IT A RIDING The grader has timmed up the main road to Utiku, and has moved to Pukeokahu. Good progress has been made with concrete work for the Toe Toe bridge. The ironwork has arrived, but I am still in a difficulty over securing the totara for the superstructure. The contractor for the Toe Toe extension is working single-handed, and therefore little progress has been made. I have obtained the sanction of the Public Works Department to substitute a water culert v for ~ Donovan's creek, on Inland Road, instead of the: proposed bridge. EREWHON RIDING. The grader is trimming up the roads; around Pukeokahu, and will afterwards move on to Moawhango and Ere^du&n.
