ANOTHER AIR RAID.
GERMANS BOMB LONDON DISTRICT. Received 8.4.. LONDON/ Dec 18. An official message states that German aeroplanes crossed the Kent and Essex coasts at 6.15 last evening, some of which reached the London district and dropped bombs, they also bombed Kent and Essex. Reports of casualties arid damage 'shave not been received. Our guns and aeroplanes engaged the enemy, ZEPPELINS OVER LONDON December 18 An air raid over London is proceeding- ■ • ;>r 25 MACHINES PARTICIPATE TWO MACHINES BROUGHT DOWN SKY SWEPT WITH SHRAPNEL ,__ ; LONDON, December 18 The High Commissioner reports as follows: Twenty-five aeroplanes bombed Kent and London this morning. Not more than five or six penetrated as far as London. Two machines were j brought down and the crews captured alive. ENEMY AEROPLANES HERALDED AS SHOPS WERE CLOSING Received 11.40 ; - LONDON, December 19. Gunfire announced the air raid to most Londoners just at the time when most shops and businesses were closing and theatre and music halls were opening. A barrage was immediately put up, marked by three spells of intense cannonading 7 which swept the skies with shrapnell. There was a new nioon and a starlit, cloudless sky. Occasion.ally two or three searchlights were put up to assist the gunners. Many people heard the othas plainly in intervals of shelling, Londoners quickly obeyed the take-cover orders. BRITAIN'S WONDERFUL PLANES. VANCOUVER, December 18. Lord Montague says that Britain is now producing aeroplanes carrying as many bombs as Zeppelins. Machines capable of doing 160 miles an hour are available.
