GERMAN FRANCHISE. Received 11.20. AMSTERDAM, Dec 9. Herr Stroebel, a Socialist in the Prussian Diet, denounced the Government’s suffrage proposals, declaring that Prussia’s reactionary system was the strongest support of Prussian militarism which had caused the war. “Revolution,” he said, “will come when conditions are ripe; you will create the man if the war 'is continued.” Conservative speakers and a majority of the Centre Party are bitterly hostile to the one-man one-vote principle,
NEESSITY FOR FOOD ECONOMY. Received 11.20. LONDON ,Dec 9. Lord Prothero, at Nottingham, urged the further ploughing of the best grass lands. The strictest food economy was increasingly necessary. He added that if the food shortage became acuter there might be such disturbances in the country as to drive us to a halting peace, nullifying the achievements of our gallant dead.
