HINDENBURG’S OPINION OF AMERICA.
COPENHAGEN, Dec 4. In the interview which the Vienna Nieu.Freie Presse had with him, General Hindenburg said he did not think America would send the newlycreated army to Europe immediately, and thus render herself helpless in case Japan desired to square up old accounts. Regarding submarine warfar, it was not a question of starving England within a few months, but of inclining her towards peace. Submarine warfare had cut England’s import of supplies, and rendered her unable to get Australian ''wheat. General Hindenburg added that local rebuffs on the Western front were accountable for by the fact that Germany was carrying out a great offensive elsewhere.
