An old Maori, named John Walter, was sentenced at the Supreme Court to seven years- hard labour for an unnatural offence at Whangaroa.

A girl named Owen Turnley, aged eight, who was knocked down by a motor car at Edendale, died four hours later_ The taxi was drive'll Tsy a man named Williams and was carrying passengers, when a spring broke and the car dashed on to the footpath, knocking down the little girl.
