CLEMENCEAU’3 SCORN.
NEVER TRUST GERMANY,
LONDON November 21,
Fuller reports of the speech made in the Chamber of Deputies by the new Premier (M. Clcmenceau) reveal some striking passages which he specially addressed to the Socialists. He aids:
“I share your idealism, Where we differ is that I am under no illusion regarding realities. I do not believe that a league of nations is a necessary outcome of this war, because if it were that Germany should enter the league of nations to morrow I would not consent. You might offer me her signature. Well, go and ask Belgium what that's worth." M. Clemenceau, disagreed with the attitude that Germany must be left to smash up, Prussian militarism herself. "The terrible fact is that she does not smash it up, and you weaken our morale by relying upon that, I give you my word that as soon as victory is in sight I shall resign." concluded the Premier.
