Abraham and Williams Ltd., report:— At Palmerston North on the 22nd inst. we had a fairly good entry of both sheep and cattle. There was a lair all round demand and the bulk of xne yarding changed hands, satisfactory prices ruling. F.M. woolly ewes and lambs brought 44/3, f.m, woolly ewes 28/6 tp 29/, aged woolly store ewes 24/9 to 27/, aged shorn ewes and lambs (small) 23/ to 30/ woolly 6 and Bth wethers 36/6, shorn 2th ■wethers 29/3. Forward cows £ 9 Is to £ll, small store cows £6 17s 6d to £7 10s, bad coloured cows"" and calves £9 12s 6d to £lO 10s, 20month to 2yr steers £9 10s, 15-18 month steers £9 Is springing heifers £lO 12s 6d to £ll, yearling heifers £4 7s to £5 ss, poor yearling steers £4 19s to £5 12s, small vealers £2 2s, calves £8 to £2O. At Feilding on the 23rd inst there was a good muster of stock. The market had a much better tone, cattle were in good demand and prices showed an improvement. Sheep opened rather -slack but brightened up considerably as the sale progressed and practically our whole entry was disposed of. Prices as follows were obtained for the various lots: On account of Messrs Carter and Macaulay two lines of Shorthorn breeding cows brought £l2 15s to £l2 16s; on account of other vendors forward cows and calves £lO 7s to £ll ss, small store heifers and calves £8 18s, 2Jyr empty heifers £7 to £7 ss, yearling £4 2s 6d to £5 ss, Shorthorn yearling heifers £5 15s to £6 10s, mixed weaners £2 15s, fat shorn ewes 29s to 31/3, 4 and 6th wethers ((small) 27/6, 2 and 4-tooth wethers 31/ 2th wethers 27/4, f.m. ewes and lambs 35/11 to 38/, mixed hoggets 26/2. small Southdown Cross hoggets 21/4.
