BRITISH RAILWAY TROUBLES. MEN’S UNREASONABLE DEMANDS. Received 10.5. LNDON, November 23. The National Conference of Railwaymen have refused the companies’ offer of 5s advance, making the war increase one pound weekly, the men ask for an extra 10s. The decision is a victory for the extremists. Mr. Thomas states there is a serious situation, but' there must be no stoppage of the railways.
