From the crcular issued by the Education Department, it would appear that all employees of Education Boards, including office staff and temporary as well as permanent teachers, will receive the war bonus. Teachers under 18 years of age will only re. eeive a bonus of £3, unless they are not living at home, when they will - be paid £7 10s, The bonus.,will probably be paid v.dth the next salaries.
The New Zealand Herald states that the election of members of the Bay of Island Hospital Board arous ed great interest. The issue in the Bay of Islands County centred upon the appointment of Dr. Leopold Kloeburg as medical superintendent of the Ka : wakawa Hospital who was appointed in 1915. New members pledged themselves to oppose the appointment of doctors with German names and German diplomas, and were elected by overwhelming majorities.
