BOWLING NOTES.

A meeting of .the general committee was held' last Friday evening. A letter was received from the Wanganui centre asking the club to suggest a date that would be suitable for' the players to go to Wanganui and- play in the Centre Shield Competition. It was decided to endeavour to got two rinks away to play in - Wanganui on Tuesday, I3th December, and to invito those members able to make the trip to place their names on the board in the Pavilion. The teams would have to leave Taihapc by the afternoon train on Wednesday, 12th v December, returning by the first train on Friday. If sufficient numbers can go on that date the Centre will be advised : and will submit it to the' clubs; --in Wanganui.

A challenge for the “Hum” Cup was received 'from the Hunterville Club and the game will probably be played on Wednesday, 22nd instant. Messrs. P. 'A. Champion and A. B. Young, were elected members of the club and Messrs. W. Nicholls and T. Williams (returned soldiers) hon. members. Mr D. Scott was elected a country member.

It was decided to place a list of members in the Pavilion and mark “paid” against the names of members as they paid their subscriptions. Mr. Drayton handed in his rcsigna tion as hon. secretary of the club. Mr J. P, Thurston was unanimously appointed green controller as successor to Mr Drayton. The appointment of a secretary was left in abeyance in the meantime.

The match committee met immediately after the close of the General Committee meeting. It /was; decided to invite entries of rinks to compete in the Champion Eink Competition, such entries to close on the 20th'December. Entrance fee 2s per player. The rinks entering will play one another and rink winning the greatest number of games will be declared the winner. The president, Dr. Boyd, has kindly intimated his intention to present a trophy to the winners.

It is.hoped that as many members as possible will enter for the 10 head Rink Tournament to be held next Thursday afternoon. Entrance fee Is per player. Entries close with Mr Neagle at his shop at 6 p.m. on Wednesday ,21st instant. Play will commence sharp at 1.30 p.m. on Thurs day.

On Saturday afternoon Cherry ( s ), Thurston, Powell and Lawson, challenged the holders of the "Spurs” Drayton (s), James (sub), Stent and Riddick. The holders were victorious after a good game by 23-19.
