BOWLING NOTES.
The fine afternoon yesterday && tracted a large number of players on to the green and some very enjoyable games were indulged in The green, was keen and playing proving' that the caretaker, Mr AHollis, is the right man in the right place.
Thurston (s), Evans, Laws on, De Luen were challengers for the "Feathers " playing the holders, McKensie (s), Neagle, Hesketh, Joll. The game was an interesting one and ended in favour of the holders.
Other games resulted as follows: Boyes (s), Boyd, Shanley, Lowe beat Varnham (s), Wrightson, Marlow and Dunn 20-19. Fookes (s), Sommerville, Williams, Riddick, beat James (s), Smart, Mortland Parker 27-16. Stent (s), Cherry, Green, Champion, beat Drayton (s) Powell, O'Callaghan Loader, 17-14. Mesdames Joll and McKenzie kindly dispensed afternoon tea, which was much appreciated by all present.
Next Thursday afternoon a progressive ten-head rink tournament will be held. Entrance fee Is per player. Entries close with Mr Neagle at his shop at 6 p.m. Wednesday nelfo 21st inst., and it is hoped that as many players as possible will put in their names.
Messrs. Varnham, Boyd and Fookes have handed in challenges for the "Feathers" and will play in the order mentioned.
