It is reported from the front that the Germans are driving prisoners—men, ■women, and children —in lines between them and the Italian Army, thus hoping to prevent the latter from attacking. The Germans are Jrepeating other acts committed to Belgium—sacking and burning property, violating women, mutilating children, and spreading terror everywhere.
ITALIANS RETAKE GALLIZO. ITALIAN OFFICIAL REPORT. LONDON, November 13. We repulsed a strong attack on Asiago Plateau after a desperate struggle, inflicting serious losses. We captured an enemy detachment westward of Asiago, releasing some of our men. The enemy are in contact with our lines from Bronta to the lower Piave. The enemy, by means of large boats crossed the Piave, establishing a bridgehead at enson. We counter-at-tacked, repulsing the enemy towards the river. . Reuter’s correspondent at the Italian headquarters, writing on the 12th inst. states that the troops occupying the regions of Carnia and Cancorne succeeded in retiring, with small losses, and rejoined the main army, whose new line runs from the sea to the slopes it ascends the Brenta River and traverses the Sugana Valley, a total length of fifty miles, where the enemy are now directing four armies The southernmost is commanded by Von Buelow, and the next to the northward is Boroevick’s army. Krobatin is commanding in Cadore, while Hoetzendorf, is endeavouring To break through the Trentino It is stated that the enemy reserves hereabouts are imposing, and are constantly increasing.
