TAIHAPE SPRING CATTLE .FAIR.
Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Palmerston North, report having held t'heir annual Ta'ihape Spring Fair on Tuesday, 13th instant, when the yarding comprised some 1300 head of cattle of all classes The competition at auction was not particularly keen, except for the better sorts of young cattle but a satisfacory clearance was eventually effected at the following prices. Mixed Yearlings £4/11/-, Yearling Heifers £4 6s, £4 15s, £6 ss, £6. Yearling Heifers Hereford Cross £S. Yearling Bulls £4 10s to £5 2s 6d, Bulls £ll Empty Store Cows £7 2s, Forward Cows £lO, to £ll 10s, Fat Cows £l3 ss, to £l3 10s, Yearling Steers £5 16s, £7 2s, to £9. 15-month Steers £6 19s £S 15s, £9 Is, £9 10s, to £9 15s, 2, year Steers £9 15s, £ll, £ll 15s to £l2 10s, 23-year bad coloured Steers to £9 7s, good quality £l2 14s, £l3 2s 6d, £l3 10s, to £l4, 3*-year Steers £l4 10s, 31-year to 4-year bullocks £ls 10s.

The High Commissioner's market report for last week is as follows quotations unless otherwise specified being average market prices on spot: Meat.—Home-killed mutton and beef are in fair supply, and are selling at maximum prices. No supplies of New Zealand mutton and lamb are available, and there are no quotations. Argentine mutton is selling at Hid, and Argentine lamb ; at 11 Jd. Dutch mutton is in fair "supply at ll*d. Butter.—TJnsalted Paris . is ~ quoted, at 256/8; both" salted\'and. 'uhsalted Danish and Dutch', 229/ British-made, butter' ex-creamery,' factory or ..farm, i 230/; 'in lib or 21b rolls, 244/. AH descriptions of butter aire very 1 ' scarce. Dutch creamery.. Paris.. and Argentine are selling at maximum prices.
Cheese is in small supply. New Zealand, States flats, Australian and Canadian are selling at : the . Government price. Moderate supplies -of Dutch are coming forward, bringing 150/ to 156/; - 140/. Hemp.—ln. Manila little business is being done, as the ■• trade is under Government control The output for the two weeks ending November 3 was 48,000 bales. New Zealand spot continues in good demand. Great difficulty is being experienced in making sales of shipments to as sellers cannot guarantee the date of delivery. . .
Wheat. —Offerings are very small at official quotations. Little business is being done in stocks to arriver~Ehglish is worth 73/6. Oats. —The market is quiet, but firm. No. 2- Canadian Western is quoted at 63/6.
Hops. —Prices have been fixed, 155/ being the average price for the whole of the English crop.
