FIGHTING ON THE PIAVE. 10,000 PRISONERS CAPTURED. LONDON, Nov 12. A German official message reports intense artillery firing in the Yser region near Longerone. Our troops bai-red the Italians' retreat in the Upper Piave Valley, and took 10,000 prisoners. We took much material. We advanced down the Piave. and are now before Feltre. f DRAWING NEAR TO VENICE. CIVILIANS LEAVING THE CITY. LONDON, Nov 13. Mr Ward Price reports: The fighting on the Piava is likely to be chiefly an artillery duel, the Germans hoping by superior weight of metal to keep the Italian guns down sufficiently to permit them to throw pontoons across and give a passage to the infantry without, heavy loss. The f ghting draws nearer Venice, from whicn all civilians are being encouraged to leave by free trains The Government is doing everything in the hope of safeguarding- the national, or rather world's possessions, from the blind destructive fury of war. A single hour's bombardment of Venice would destroy irreplaceable treasures of ages; therefore elaborate precautions are being taken to remove the slightest pretext for treating Venice as a fortress. Nobody wearing uniform is permitted to enter the city. FIGHTING ON ASIAGO PLATEAU. LONDON, Nov 12. Italian official.—The enemy renewed their attack fruitlessly on the Asiago Plateau. A bitter struggle occurred in the northern area. We counter-attacked and took prisoners. We resisted valiantly along the remainder of the mountainous frontBrisk fighting is proceeding across the Piave.
