It is reported that 200 Germans attempteZT'to raid American trenches in the fight on the 9th November and that they completely failed and suffered some losses. It is believed that China will welcome the Japanese-American agreement when it fully understands the matter. The State Department Services from Petrograd state that the uprising, apparently will be short-lived. President Wilson delivered an important address to the Federation of Labour Convention at Buffalo, urging efforts to speed up the production of war essentials and end all disputes. The Government did not desire to resort to conscription. Labour favours a partial suspension of union rules so that working-
men may receive concession from erapolyers, and permitting the extension of unionism. Mr Wilson assailed the pacifists, and declared that if Germany retains the Berlin-Bagdad railway it will have gained one of its chief objectlv«s_ It was learned several days ago that the upheaval at Petrograd was stimulated by a religious movement, designed to save Russia. Five hundred thousand soldiers and their commanders have Joined and pledged their support to the Kerensky movement which is steadily growing. AMERICAN PRISONERS. NEGOTIATIONS WITH - GERMANY.
