Von Tirpitz, speaking at Munich, said the war would decide whether Germany or Britain should exercise a protectorate over Belgium. We can •hold out longer than the enemy. GERMAN PEACE MOVES. INTRIGUE IN VATICAN CIRCLES. THE POPE’S PACIFIST OVERTURES. PARIS, Nov 12. Newspapers urge the Allied Governments to prepare for German peace moves following enemy successes in Italy. Intrigues are increasing in Vatican circles. The Pope is summoning principle prelates to Rome in the hope of gaining their support for future pacifist overtures. It is reported that Austrian officers encouraged men forward by promising them to obtain peace at Venice.
