A telegram, from Taumarunui stares the outbursts from Ngauruhoe on Saturday night, all day Sunday, and today were felt like earthquakes here, being accompanied by a noise like the booming of distant cannon. On Sunday and to-day numbers of people ascended the hills at Taumarunui and saw many spectacular outbursts from the volcano cone, volumes of smoke rising rapidly, geyser-like, to a great height. There was a colossal outburst, at 12.30, and another about 2.30 to day. The vibration was such that windows rattled.
