TAIHAPE SWIMMING CLUB.

x COMMITTEE MEETING A meeting of tie above club was held last evening. Present: Messrs S. Dunbar (chair), C. L. Dymock, H. D. Bond, C. Baddeley, S. Beban, J. Champion j A. D. N. Train, H. G. Boughton, O. F Dunkley, and the Secretary, W. Gieseking. The deputation appointed at the general meeting reported to tie effect that the Council is agreeable to the Club taking over the Baths on similar conditions as those obtaining last season. Last season’s time-table was revised in orded to make better provision for lady swimmers, and the secretary was instructed to submit same to the Council for approval. ' It was decided that Messrs Hunt Bros, be approached re the cost of painting the sides of the bati, the committee coming to the conclusion that it would give the water a fresher and cleaner apearance. Thursday, November 15th, was decided on as the official opening day and a sub-committee was elected to draw up a programme of events to be held on the day in question. On the motion of Mr Train the club intend to inaugurate a breast-stroke competition for schoolboys and girls, and to donate trophies for same. Some discusion ensued on the question of appointing a custodian, and with a vote of thanks to the chair, this concluded the meeting. A further meting wil be held shortly, when final arrangements will be made for opening day.
