A COLONIAL AIR-CONQUERER.
Prance and Germany have no monopoly in champion aviators. Canada can put up a bigger boast than either now that Guynemer and Imnielmann have gone. Captain W. A. Bishop, whose "independent" air offensive against the Huns won him the V.C. i s the only Canadian officer who holds in addition to the little bronze cross, the D.S.O. and the Military Cross. He is only 23 years old, was born 'at Owen Sonud, Ontario, the Canadian whence many fine fighting men have come. Captain Bishop went over with the 7th Canadian Mounted Rifles, but did not go to France with them. Soon after reaching England he joined the Royal Flying Corps, went to the front in January, 1916, and attained the rank of flight commander in April of this year. Up to the end of July last Captain Bishop had brought down no fewer than 26 enemy machines. No doubt he has added many more since then.
