AN "ALL BLACK" IN A NEW ROLE Most sporting New Zealanders will remember E. E. Booth the full-back | of the New Zealand Rugby team of 1905, the famous All Blacks.. He subsequently played for Australia, having taken up his residence in Sydney. In a letter recently received, Booth writes cheerily from behind the lines in France. Early in the war he accepted service with the Y.M.C.A. to organise sports for the Australian forces During the last football season he was busy at Lark Hill Camp, and has since crossing the water had a very busy time. He has induced the Y.M.C.A. to fit up a stadium "in a dell in the woods a veritable amphitheatre, with accommodation for 3000." There are many Australians who like to have a turn with the gloves, and their friends are equally pleased to see how they shape. There ig also a big following in cricket, ana at present inter ; divisional matches are in full swing, the having been specially prepared by a numoer of enthusiasts. Great interest is evinced in these games, one in August attracting an attendance of 2400.
