A GISBORNE SENSATION.

ALLEGED AESON AND THEFT. GISBORNE, Nov. 1. As a further sequel to the recent Gasworks fire, John Sheriff Dods, a clerk at the Gasworks, was arrested by Detective McLeod to-day, and brought before the Magistrate, charged with arson and the "theft of various sums belonging to the company. Detective McLeod, in applying for a remand. said Dods had confessed to misappropriation,' altogether, of a very large sum of monej'. A remand till Friuay week was granted, bail being granted self in £SOO, and two securities of £SOO each. Frank Parnell, on remand for arson at the Gasworks appears at the Court to-morrow, when a further remand will be asked for.
