TAIHAPE TRADESMEN’S ASSOCIATION.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the committee of the Taihape Tradesmen’s Association was held last Thursday, Mr Gardner being in the chair_ The Secretary reported that no reply had come from the Borough Council with respect to the Association’s complaint about motor car speed and smoke nuisance from the railway. The secretary w r as authorised to make inquiries at the Council office. It was resolved that a letter of sympathy be sent to Mr P. McLaughlan and family, expressing the Association’s great ; regret at the sad news received from the Front. A letter of sympathy was ordered to 'be sent to. tjae Dannevirke Chabher of Commerce in connection with the huge commercial loss the town had sustained by the late fire. It was resolved that a special general meeting of the Association be held to discuss the advisability of closing shops on Thursday afternoon whether any previous holiday has taken place in the week or not, except in Christmas Week, New Year Week, and the Thursday before Good Friday.
