A LOAN TO FRANCE. VISIBLE SUPPLY OF WHEAT. Received 9.10. WASHINGTON, October 26 The wheat visible is 14,669,000 bhshels. The Shipping Board statistics show that U-boats in the last six months, sank an average of only one out of every 25 ships attacked. The Treasury announces a loan of twenty million dollars to France. . The total lent to France so far is 790 millions. AMERICAN ENTHUSIASM. THE GREAT LIBERTY LOAN. HUN SECRET STORES DIS- ■ COVERED. COPPER AND OIL SEIZED. Received 5.55. WASHINGTON October 25. There is a remarkable wave of interest in the Liberty Loan which has reached almost two and a half ' billions. There is the keenest rivalry in the cities, Chicago is leading with 57 per cent,, quota. Prominent actresses and politicians, including George Reid, are auctioning bonds, in the streets, and stores. The maximum effort Avill be made known to-morrow. "Liberty Day," when hundreds of aviators will drop appeals broadcast in prominent centres. The United States must raise five hundred millions daily in order to reach five billions. Standard Oil has taken fifty millions, and Rock feller five millions. Mr. McAdoo made a (Statement, urging that bonds be given as Christmas presents. It is estimated that seized German property and money in the United States will swell the Liberty Loan by from two hundred to eight millions.
Secret Service agents have discovered that Germans are secretly holding in the United States immense quantites of copper, oil, and raw materials, accumulated for use after war. These will be commandeered and used for America's war preparation. The seizures will seriously affect Germany's post war. trade plans. . .',....
HYPHENATED AMERICANS SUPPRESSION URGED. NEW YORK, Oct 25. Senator Sauls bury denounces proGerman propagandists circulating baseless stories of huge Allied losses, attempting to discourage the sending of troops abroad. The casualty figures are deliberately falsified. The truth is that the percentage of losses was never smaller. The propagandists are attempting to prove that the German military organisation comprises "masterful supermen" and that it is hopeless to carry on fhe fight. He again urges the Government to suppress pro-German publications. The very foundation of militarism in Germany, is rocking, and effective resistance will soon be broken. It needs only a further awakening of the German people to cause N a collapse.

The President of Brazil has sent a message to Congress that the sinking of the Brazilian steamer Makai compels Brazil to become a belligerent. and requests Congress to authorise the seizure of the German wars-hip anchored at Bahia, and the internment of the crew, together with the crews of German merchantmen. ONLY WAY TO CONVINCE. PRUSSIA. OTTAWA, October 25. Mr James Beck, ex-Assistant At-torney-General to the United States, in a speech, states that unless the Allies march into Berlin. Prussia will not realise that she is conquered. When the Allies win they must beware of magnanimity. Lord Devonshire, congratulated Mr. Beck on the evidence he gave of America's efforts to prepare to praticipate in the Allies' final success.
MEXICO COMING ROUND. MEXICO CITY, October 25 The majority of Senators informally voted to sever relations with Germany and to observe benevolent neutrality towards the Allies. 'A break is expected soon, and public opinion is rapidly turning in that direction. Senators declared that Mexico must align herself on the side of nations fighting civilisation's battle and paid high tributes to the United States making light of previous differences.
