FIRE IN TAIHAPE.

A fire broke out at about 1.45 this morning in a dwelling just recently occupied by Mr Mullin'gar at the top end of Ellis Road. The fire brigade was quickly on the spot, but the fire had too great a hold, 'and the building with its contents, wa s totally destroyed. The cottage was outside the water area, and toe fire brigade devoted all their efforts to saving the adjoining building and the shed at the back, which they succeeded in doing by means of an improvised bucket brigade and wet blankets. Mr MuuTngar had a close call, just escaping with what he stood up in. He was toe only occupant at the time his family being away. The building was owned by Mr G. Wrightson, and was insured in the National Insurance Co.
