The High Commissioner's cable market report, dated London, October 20th, is as follows, quotations unless otherwise specified being average market , prices on spot: Moat. —Home killed mutton and beef in fair supply. All descriptions of frozen meat very scarce. New Zealand mutton, per lb. S 7-Sd; ewe, Sid; Argentine, II 3-Sd; New Zealand lamb lOd; Argentine Hid, Patagonia, 10d. Argentine beef in fair supply. Chilled hinds Hid; fores 9id. Butter. —No official quotations with exception of Paris, 230/ to 235/, and
Irish creamery. New Zealand, Australian and Argentine, no supplies available. Danish, no supplies available in Toolcy Street market. Small sales have taken place in provincial markets at as high as 150/. Cheese—Market remains as last reported for New Zealand, United States flats, and Australian. Government price
for English Cheddar, 137/. Hemp.—Manila and New Zealand markets show no change. Wheat.—The market is quiet, but firm. Moderate business has been done. No. 2 Manitoba northern, 74/; No. 1 white Canadian, 71/6; Australian 82/. Oats.—The market is firm, with an improved demand. Canadian 62/6.
Sir Eric Geddes receives no salary from public money as First Lord of the Admiralty ? nor has he been paid for any work which he has done under the Government during the war. He does not occupy his official residence, which is now used by the Naval War Staff. He continues to draw his salary as deputy manager of the North-Eastern Railway Company.
