THE SECOND DIVISION. PROTEST AGAINST MINISTERIAL TREAMENT. CARTERTON, this day. At a meeting of representatives of the married farmers of South FeatherI ston, which was addressed by the Rev Catherwood, Mr A. C. Holmes, and Mr J. T. M M.P., the following motion was carried:—“That this meeting of married men, representative of the Featherston district, enters its emphatic protest against the inadequate provisions made for soldiers’ dependants, and calls upon the Ministry and Parliament to either favourably reconsider the proposals, or, to be logical and place all sections of the community on the same economic basis as the country’s defenders, as being in some measure equaity of sacrifice. this meeting also unanimously affirms that the Ministerial statement as to the Second Division League not playing the game, is unwarranted.
