THREE STARS
A pariah of tße native quarter from a smart Army surgeon is the' transformation effected' by H. B'j Warner in his remarkable delineation of the principal role in "The Beggar of Cawnpore." now showing at the Three Stars. The film is a wonderful one and a very high example of Triangle production. The atmosphere of the burning plains of India is suggested with supreme fidelity, and special mention should be made of the artis'try displayed in the sub-titles. The love story which is woven through the plot is sweet and convincing, and Lola May is a handsome and charming heroine. There are some remarkable scenes from the gigantic Indian rising, well known as the Indian Mutiny_ With dreadful realism the massacre of Cawnpore, and the overwhelming of the gallant little of Europeans by a roaring tide of fantics is shown with fidelity. The ' matinee idol, H. B. Warner effects a wonderful change in appearance when he becomes the dirty ragged opiums-soaked wreck of the Indian bazaars in "The Beggar of Cawnpore." The programme also includes the third chapter of Gloria's Romance.
