THE RED TRIANGLE FARM.
Education in its wider application, concerning itself with the entire -human being —mind, body and spirit—is the point of view that is bovue in one by a visit to lied Triangle Farm Colony, which the Y.M.C.A. have recently established on a stretch of beautiful moorland in Dorsetshire, cays an English paper. The establishment is an initial experiment in the training of discharged soldiers in agricultural and industrial pursuits, and those only are eligible for admission who are suffering from slight tubercular trouble, which may be arrested within a reasonable time by the adoption of an outdoor life and specific treatment Specially constructed and hygionically designed huts for the accommodation of the pa-
tients are distributed over a sheltered and weeded portion qf the estate,
and a central building contains dining and recreation rooms. There is an open-air billiard room large sheds for workshops, and here in the most favoured climate of Englarjd and amid glorious scenery many of these who have broken down in the service of their country are being given not only a fresh start in health, hut also an insight into outdoor occupations. Such men need to be kept out of cities and induced to remain on the land either at Home or In one of our oversees Dominions.
It is a distinctive feature of the Farm Colony that—except in those patients whose condition demands absolute rest—idleness is not permitted. The men are put to such useful work as they are capable of performing with benefit to their health. That this system of graduated labour does restore them to their free working capacity is proved by the fact that two of the original six patients have now recovered sufficiently' to hold positions on the staff of the colony. Among many who are deeply interested in this new department of Y.M.O.A. work are Cornelia Lady Wimbone, the Countess of Leitrim, Lady Rodney, and Lady Carson. Should the experiment continue to be successful, it is the intention of the Y.M.C.A. to form other colonies in order to aid in solving the problem of this particular class of sufferers from the Avar.
