THOROUGHNESS OF GERMANY.
Is there a single department of life that the Kaiser and Co, overlooked in preparing for Der Tag? The ramifications of their intrigue and preparedness are simply astonishing. Details are constantly coming into common knowledge. The British Censor's Department keeps on unearthing some interesting evidence. This has accumulated to such an extent that there is today in London a whole library of specimens of intercepted propaganda literature which travels to neutral countries. Books written in Germany and printed there, but bearing on their covers the names of well-known publishers in London and Paris, are there in abundance; whilst in the section dealing with literature devoted to stirring up enmity between the Allies the remarkable industry with which the Germans have succeeded in collecting and reprinting all the disagreeable speeches made 40, 50 and up to 100 years ago by British statesmen against the French, and vice versa, is indeed worthy of a better cause. Equally interesting is the very remarkable collection of political cartoons and caricatures t© be found in this department. And yei" it al goes for naught because German psychology failed to appreciate the British character. ■ ■-.>'
