NATURALISED RESERVIST.

BRITISH JUSTICE DOUBTED. REPRIMAND BY MAGISTRATE. HAMILTON, October 2. A naturalised German named Allen Edwards was charged at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday that being a reservist he failed to notify a change in his address. Senior-Sergeant Cassells said that the man was recently arrested for drunkenness and was asked to produce his registration certificate, when it was found that he had failed to notify a change of his address. The man was a pro-German, and had made use of certain disloyal utterances. He had been drawn in a recent ballot and classed as C2. When arrested he put up the “usual fight.” Asked if he had anything to say, accused said: “No! There are too many against me. I will never get my rights.” This brought forth a sharp reprimand from the Magistrate, Mr E. Rawson, who said; “You will get fair play in a British Court, but you would not get that in Germany.” A fine of £5 was imposed.
