A French communique says: There is considerable artillery fire in the region of Braye and Cerny. A fresh German attack on the right bank of the Meuse, north of Caurieres Wood, was repulsed. On the left bank there was lively artillery fire in the neighbourhood of Morthomme. THE GERMAN REPORT. Received 10.50. LONDON, September 17. German official: —The artillery duel in Flanders has increased several times Drum fire is also intense in the Aisne, Champagne, and Verdun, regions. The enemy lost eighteen aeroplanes yesterday. A FRENCH REPORT. GERMANS ATTACKS REPULSED. LONDON, Sept. 17. French communique: After a violent bombardment the Germans attacked our positions at Apremont Forest Fractions of the attackers gained a footing in our advanced elements, but were driven out and the line re-estab-lished.
