DANCES AND SOCIALS
OLD GIRLS' HOCKEY DANCE. There was a large attendance of members of the Old Girls Hockey Club at the final meeting last night, Mr S. Dunbar occupying the chair. It was decided to thank Messrs F. W. Somerville, F. Ward and Co., and J. Mortland for assistance in furnishing the stage. Miss K. Blomfield kindly offered to give a display of fancy dancing. Tho various sub-committees appointed to deal with supper, floor, decorations, music, etc, reported that arrangements were well in hand. Everything points to a most successful and enjoyable function to-morrow evening, and the hockey girls are to be complimented on the energy and thoroughness displayed. Apart from the entertainment and amusement to be~derived from those attending to-morrow night's function, the main object is the provision of Christmas parcels for Taihape district soldiers at the front. Each person attending will have a double pleasure; that derived from attendance at the dance, but more important still, that of knowing that your money goes to bring joy to the heart of a Taihape boy fighting in the trenches or lying in hospital. Some 200 Christmas parcels, costing between £125 and £ls0 } will be sent by the Taihape Women's Working Club and the hockey girls by their dance hope to pay for the cost of a goodly number of these. . . •
The public are appealed to to assist the -hockey girls in their object.
