CATHOLIC SOCIAL EUCHRE PARTY
The second of the series of euchre parties in aid of'the local Catholic School building fund was, held in tha (Towni Hall supper-roioni,Ja&t night. There was a record gathering of euchre players, the r v 'Om being crowded. These functions certainly are becoming popular, and it requires all the skill of the management to seat with the increasing attendance; but this those responsible for the arrangements very capably carried out* The winners of last night's games were Miss M. McGowan (ladies), and Mr P. Younger (gentlemen), the consolation prizes being won by Miss Reardon and Mr J. J. Clark. As before mentioned the winner of the aggregate number of games at all euchre parties will be presented with a cup.
For non-card players or those who would rather indulge . in the "light a very enjoyable daora was held in the Town Hall. Dancing commenced with some thirty couples, who gradually increased later to sixty, when reinforcements from the card tables arrived. All the arrangements for the enjoyment ,of dancing were very complete, the floor being in first-class order, and the music suplied by Mr Edlin's orchestra was excellent. In this respect it is a ere* dit to a local orchestra that suc& good music was supplied, which was the subject of much favourable comment. Extras were played by Misses Troy and White. ->
A dainty supper was provided for both euchre players and dancers, and in this respect the service was up to the usual high standard of these functions. - . u
