IN THE AIR.
GERMAN AIR RAID. LONDON, Sept 5. German aeroplanes bombed Dunkirk and Calais, and the region of Luneville, north of Nancy. Several casualties are reported at Calais, but the damage is insignificant. FRENCH AIR RAID. ON CAMBRAI AND METZ LONDON Sept 5. ! French aeroplanes dropped 5i tons of bombs on aerodromes, bivouacs, and railway stations, including Cambrai, and Metz, causing important damage. . ________ ITALIAN AIR RAID. ON AUSTRIAN ARBENAL. LONDON, Sept 5. An Italian official report states: “A squadron of Italian aeroplanes bombed the enemy’s . military works and fleet in Pola Harbour and in Tasana 7 Canal, causing destructive fires. AIR RAID ON ENGLAND. CHATHAM AND SHEERNEBS' AREA REACHED. 108 KILLED, 92 WOUNDED. LONDON, Sept 4. The High Commissioner reports as follows: Air raiders last night reached the Chatham and Sheerness area when 107 naval ratings were and 86 wounded, and one civilian killed and six injured. German official: We bombed Dover, Chatham, Sheerness and Ramsgate. FURTHER PARTICULARS. 1 " LONDON, Sept 4. A Gotha aeroplane bombed Chatham while hundreds of people were leaving theatres. The bulk of the casualties were due to a chance bomb falling on the naval barracks. The raid lasted five minutes. BOMBS DROPPED ON LONDON. LONDON, Sept 5. British official: A considerable number of enemy aeroplanes crossed the south-east coast at 11 o’clock last night and dropped bombs on a number of places. Some machines reached the London district, where bombs were dropped. No reports of damage have yet been received. AIR RAID ON LONDON. NINE KILLED, 49 INJURED. LONDON, Sept 5. British official; A considerable number of aeroplanes crossed the south-east coast over a wide arerrtast night. The raiders travelled singly or in groups, rendering any estimate of their numbers difficult, but possibly totalled twenty. The first bombs were dropped in the London district at. 11.45, continuing till 1.40 in the morning. Bombs were also dropped on the coast. The casualties reported were nine killed and forty-nine injured. The damage is not extensive. One, machine was brought down in the sea off Sheerness. BOMBED BY A SUBMARINE. Received 9.55. NEW YORK, Sept 5. Telegrams report tßat Scarborough was bombed by a submarine, and three persons were killed.
