A LIBERAL CAUCUS.

FREE HAND TO SIR J. G. WARD. WELLINGTON, August 30. A full meeting of the Liberal Party members in Wellington was held this morning to discuss all matters of interest to the party as a whole, including the vacancy in the Cabinet, the party's future policy and Legislative Council appointments. Sir James Carroll, Mr. A. E. Glover, and Mr. H. G. Ell, who are absent, were accounted for, while Sir John Findlay was given a hearty welcome as a member of the party The following resolution was unanimously adopted:—"That this meeting of members of the Liberal party desire to pledge its continued loyalty to Sir Joseph Ward as its leader, and wishes to leave the settlement of all matters affecting the party to him." It is noteworthy that the caucus was confined strictly to Liberal members, Mr. Veitch, who was present at the last meeting, was not invited to attend on this occasion.
