THE LIBERTY LOAN.

Our Men know how to fight and die! Do ,we know how to work and Pay? An urgent call Is ringing out o’er land and sea to-day, Dike bugle note s appealing for our help to win the fray. Throughout the busy cities to the back blocks wild and grim, From mighty inland fastnesses to furthest coastal rim, To every boy and matron and to every maid and man. This urgent message soundeth: “Will . you lend us what you can?” Our men know how to fight and die! Do you know how to work and pay? They gathered their battalions up from every walk of life, And marched away in thousands for the scarlet fields of strife. They formed a common brotherhood to fight a common foe, And how they hold our honour up their deeds in war can show. They struggle on and bleed for us amidst the cannon’s roar, And only ask our money’s aid to help them win the war. Our men know how to fight and f Do you know how to work and pay? *Tis only we can give them help where wounds and death are rife And every widow’s modest mite may save a soldier’s .life. The cannon’s endless scream for shells, the need for clothes and food, For nurses and for doctors too (with tendernes s imbued}, All call aloud for money’s aid that they might reach the end — True victory o’er the Hunnish 'hordes —what have you got to lend?

Our men know how to fight and die! Do you know how to work and pay? A sacred duty on us lies in thi s our country’s need. Away with petty politics and narrow carping creed! Our fighting men depend • on us to keep the rearguard sound. So muster up each farthing and each penny and each pound. We’ll marshal up battalions formed in money’s conquering might, Deploying all that we can spare to scatter war’s" dark night. Our men show how they fight and die, And we’ll show how wo work and pay!
