At a meeting of the Auckland Service Board on Saturady it transpired that a seaman named who owned a launch, and had been called up, asked for an extension to enable hi s wife to .qualify for a captain’s permit, so that the business could be carried on during her husband’s absence, - The hope w r as expressed that she would get through, to which the appellant replied: “Oh, she’Tl get through all right, as she can run it now ; being a splendid .sailor besides.”- So soon we shall hear of Mr s Captain Sankey running a launch and rearing her two young children besides as a side line.
