STRIKES IN AUSTRALIA.
CHRISCHUECH, this day. A loc-'I merchant yesterday forwarded a cable message to leading Sydney merchants inquiring how the strike was progressing and if martial law was in force. The followng reply was received: "Ordinary conditions prevailing.” Another Christchurch importer sent a similar message and the following reply came to hand: "State-ment-incorrect as tc martial law.”
