Judging from enquiries made in the lobbies (says the Post) the present postion in regard to the earlier closing of hotels is that there is in the House a decided majority in favour of six o’closck closing. There are however two or three matters to be considered in this connection. In the first place it is an acknowledged fact that there is a small section of Cabinet which is distinctly against any proposal but 6 o’clock closing; while, on the other hand, the majority of Cabinet is in favour of something between 7 and 8 p.m. It will be some little time before the matter come up for decision.
